this piece was written shortly after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, as I was inspired by the events, or more accurately devastated. The album Reconstruction of self which I was writing at the time of this event was dealing with loss of life and the grieving process. I envisioned hearing ancestors in the wind after such an event, and that laid the ground work for this piece. written for the Shakuhachi, this piece features audio manipulation of this flute,
